JESSICA SILVERMAN GALLERY, SF - A gallery dedicated to contemporary artwork, San Francisco’s Jessica Silverman Gallery has been consistently hosting exhibitions and installations since Tammy Rae Carland’s An Archive of Feelings opened the doors in July of 2008. In the four years since, Silverman has hosted artists cut from many cloths, from Luke Butler’s paintings inspired by ‘70s television to Florian Schmidt’s delicate, square-based assemblages. The independent gallery is owned and directed by Jessica Silverman, who – at the ripe age of 29 − parlayed her undergraduate work at Otis College of Art and Design into a successful business, has already gained admittance to the prestigious Frieze and FIAC contemporary art fairs and placed a few of the gallery’s resident artists into museum collections. Silverman Gallery has carved its own niche in the contemporary art world, but the overarching beauty is not contained within the gallery’s walls, but rather in the embracing of art by a new generation.
