Since their debut album Winds of Creation was released to a largely unsuspecting public in Spring 2000 (when founding members and guitarist WacBaw "Vogg" KieBtyka was nearly 18 and brother/drummer Witold 'Vitek' Kieltyka was only 15), DECAPITATED were hailed around the world as one of death metal's most promising bands. In fact, Terrorizer Magazine confidently pronounced them “Best Newcomer of 2000.” “A warning to all death metal bands old and new,” wrote Kerrang! Magazine, “THIS is what you’re competing with. DECAPITATED are the best death metal band in the world.”
After heavy touring, DECAPITATED released Organic Hallucinosis in 2006 featuring their new lead singer, Covan, a line-up and music which led MESHUGGAH’s Tomas Haake to comment: “HOLY S***!!! Great musicianship, great songs. Way intense!!! DECAPITATED is top notch all the way through!!! Extreme metal doesn’t come better than this!!!”
Sadly, an accident in 2007 claimed Vitek’s life and left Covan permanently injured, and it would be two years before Vogg would resurrect the band with three new members.
