Kirk von Hammett and Scion AV’s Fear FestEvil after-party in San Diego this past weekend was one for the history books. Fans lined up hours before the doors even opened and the venue hit capacity almost immediately.
With die-hard Metallica fans, band friends and family filling the space, they were treated to a performance by Exodus (the group Kirk Hammett founded in the early 1980s), featuring returning lead singer Steve “Zetro” Souza. After an hour-long set, Exodus was joined by a rotating list of performers including Hammett, Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo, Richard Christy of The Howard Stern Show (and former drummer for Death), vocalist Mark Osegueda of Death Angel and Stephen Perkins of Jane’s Addiction on drums.
Those lucky enough to witness this performance included Kerry King of Slayer, John Dolmayan of System of a Down, Beavis & Butthead and Silicon Valley creator Mike Judge, comedian Brian Posehn and Howard Stern Show staff members Jon Hein, Sal Governale, Steve Brandano and Jim McClure. Also in attendance, professional skateboarder Riley Hawk came down to hang out with everyone. The show was so awesome and vibe was so good, that folks stayed around until 4 in the morning. It was a blast.
