In the middle of a New York City heat wave, Lil Debbie and Freddie Gibbs were on fire at the latest Scion Open Mic event. An intimate crowd of sweepstakes winners escaped 90-degree weather and oppressive humidity to watch two very different, but two very exciting, rappers. Coming out of Oakland, Lil Debbie hit the stage with four dancers to help keep the crowd moving. Then Freddie Gibbs ripped the mic, continuing the legacy that he’s been building for himself.
This was the second Scion Open Mic at our new location, the Knitting Factory in Brooklyn, and the crowd’s energy level was some of the best we’ve seen yet. Check the pictures below and hopefully we’ll see you there in August as things continue to heat up.
