Plastic Fantastic: A Chat with Aussie Remixer Extraordinaire Plastic Plates

Share on TwitterShare on FacebookShare via email

Like many Australians, Plastic Plates loves sunny and uplifting disco-house grooves and tropical shirts, but behind the scenes, he’s super serious about the beats. In this interview, he talks about how he’s been involved in music all his life, from being raised in an opera house to drumming for the likes of Sia and Empire of the Sun. A chance remix for fellow Aussie’s Midnight Juggernauts (check an interview we did with them below) catapulted him into the consciousness of DJs who love silky, summery grooves, then releases on Kitsune (stream their sweet Scion AV release below) and a grip of remixes, including fabulous reworks for Mark Ronson and Katy Perry, followed. Now living in L.A., we caught up with Felix Bloxsom to find out how he got to where he is today, the perks of touring solo and why plastic is definitely better than paper.
