The Scion Label Showase is a regular event held in Southern California where each show highlights one of best labels in metal and some of the heavy, heavy bands associated with it. Los Angeles’ own Southern Lord was featured in 2012 and each act that played that day sat down for an interview before the show.

The members of Pelican tell the story of how they are proceeding as a group without founding member Laurent Schroeder-Lebec and with the addition of guitarist Dallas Thomas.

Black Breath get deep into detail about the band’s relationship with Swedish Black Metal, the sound they are most commonly tied to, even though they are from Washington. Call it Washington Black Metal.

Mikael Kjellman of Martyrdöd explains how his group’s roots are in Stockholm, Sweden’s punk scene.

Burning Love describe how its sound comes from the joining of two different bands and two different generations to create something entirely new.

Finally, Enabler get into taking risks and finding flexibility as a young band.
