Beat Scene Godfather Daedelus Gets Totally Pacific on His Scion AV EP

Santa Monica, CA native Daedelus has been an integral part of the L.A. “beat scene” before that term even existed. For over a decade, the Victoriana-obsessed dandy known as Alfred Darlington has continually crafted some of the most exciting and unpredictable electronic music around, defining the “West Coast sound” with releases for Warp, Brainfeeder, Stones Throw and Ninja Tune. On his Looking Ocean EP for Scion AV, Daedelus refracts California sun, sea and sand through the prisms of rave and jazz, coming out with the boundless chill-out bass number “Endless Sea”, Theolonius Monk-meets-Aphex Twin thump of “Looking Ocean” (with Austin Peralta) and the soaring sunset boat trip of “Flying Sail” (in collaboration with Computer Jay). Just this week, Daedelus announced a forthcoming tour starting in late February with rising future-hop stars Ryan Hemsworth and  Two Fresh, plus Frite Nite’s Salva and Body High’s Samo Sound Boy. Check the futuristic flavors soon in a city near you.

Download and stream “Looking Ocean” below and after you’re done soaking up the vibes, view the video for ambient juke tune “Platforming”, a laser-guided party created in tandem with the SCI-Arc Robot House.
