Dim Mak’s Felix Cartal Makes Indie-Electro Magic

One of the brightest stars of Dim Mak’s massive roster is house superstar Felix Cartal, who has made a huge mark on the scene in the last few years with his catchy and hard-hitting brand of indie-electro bangers. Don’t let the exotic name fool you—Felix hails from misty Vancouver, Canada, where he remains hard at work on productions when he’s not out touring the world with the likes of Steve Aoki and MSTRKRFT. In a culture based mostly on singles, Cartal has already dropped two whole albums of pumping, poppy big-room electro, while also releasing on Boys Noize, Turbo, Toolroom and Ultra. While climbing up the charts, Felix continues to work with a variety of artists from the indie rock world, remixing Moving Units and Dragonette and getting vocals from The Blood Brothers’ Johnny Whitney and Sebastien Grainger from DFA1979. Scion AV sat down with Felix Cartal in Hollywood to talk about his personal approach to making tracks and his recent single “Tonight”, featuring vocals from The Sounds’ Maja Ivarsson.
